Requiem For A DreamDarren Aronofsky, who never seems to make the same movie twice, has decided on his next project.

According to Variety, Aronofsky has settled on producing and directing a caper flick based on the nonfiction book “Heist: The Inside Story of the World’s Biggest Robbery.”  Here’s to hoping that name gets trimmed down a bit — but not too much as not to be confused with the David Mamet movie.

Kerry Williamson, whose street cred is on the rise since adapting “Fork in the Road” for Alexander Payne, will take on the scribe duties.

Meanwhile, the “Wrestler” director will be helming Black Swan with Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis; shooting is reportedly starting this November.

And don’t forget, “Robocop” is still allegedly on the man’s horizon.

“The thing that’s exciting for a filmmaker like me about [“RoboCop”] is that it’s not as iconic as some of the other titles out there, so there’s room to do stuff with it, It had incredible insight into the future, and it’s still hilarious,” he told MTV back in January.

cbDavid Cronenberg, the legend behind such films as Scanners, Crash, Naked Lunch, and A History Of Violence has chosen his next project to helm.

And as usual, the Canadian’s choice comes straight out of left field.

Cronenberg has chosen to take on the Don DeLillo novel Cosmopolis.

Seemingly lighter than his usual fare, Cosmopolis is the tale of Eric Packer, a 28-year-old billionaire, who is on a quest to get a haircut.

If there’s anybody who can take a synopsis like that and make it fascinating, it’s David Cronenberg.

The Hollywood Reporter details that shooting will take place next year in New York and Toronto, but no actors or screenwriters have been specified to date.

The last Cronenberg film to hit the big screen was Eastern Promises.
